Jaipur, Dec 6: In response to the killing of Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi on Wednesday, the Rajput community called for a state-wide bandh.

Unidentified bike-borne criminals shot and killed Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the chief of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, in Jaipur on Tuesday.

The Rajput community requested a thorough examination of the matter through a judicial inquiry.

Had asked for security

Son of Karni Sena founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi, Bhawani Singh Kalvi, made the following statement during the demonstrations: “Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi had demanded security. The administration also had some letters and proof that something like this could happen to him. There is a big question mark on why security was not provided to him.”

Speaking about Gogamedi’s death, newly elected BJP MLA Diya Kumari stated, “The murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur is shocking. I don’t have words to condemn it. He had demanded security for himself, but the Congress government failed to provide it. I offer my condolence to his family.”

The police stated on Wednesday that they had successfully identified two of the culprits who were involved in shooting at Gogamedi.

Makrana Nagaur native Rohit Rathore was identified as the first accused.

Nitin Fouji, a Mahendragath, Haryana native, was identified as the second accused.

Rohit Godara gang claims responsibility

The Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra stated that the murder has been claimed by the Rohit Godara gang, and ongoing efforts are in place to track down the two assailants who managed to escape.

“Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi and one of his bodyguards were shot. An accused accompanying the killers was also shot, who has died. Raids are being conducted at the possible hideouts of the miscreants…We spoke to the Haryana DG and assistance has been sought. Rohit Godara gang has taken responsibility for the murder, they will be arrested soon,” Rajasthan DGP said.

An alleged social media post by Rohit Godara, who is connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is making the rounds online. In it, he purports to have given the order to kill Gogamedi because the Rajput leader was empowering and backing his gang’s adversaries.
