Lucknow, Oct 18: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Lucknow.
Earlier, both leaders inaugurated the booster and warhead buildings at the BrahMos Aerospace facility and participated in a plantation drive within the premises. They also witnessed a virtual strike demonstration of the BrahMos missile via the SU-30 aircraft.
On the occasion, CM Yogi Adityanath said, “This is the foundation of a self-reliant India. So far, we have provided over 2,500 acres of land across six nodes for this purpose, generating employment for more than 15,000 youth in the state.”

He added that the DG of BrahMos and the Defence Minister recently handed over a GST cheque of Rs 40 crore. “I have told DRDO to let me know how much land you need. We will make it available here,” Yogi said.
Yogi further stated that once 100 BrahMos missiles are produced annually, with future capacity increasing to 150, the state government will receive Rs 150–200 crore per year through GST from these missiles.
He said, “This is a proud moment for us as we fulfill Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision and, in the presence of the Defence Minister, flag off the first batch of BrahMos missiles developed using indigenous technology.”

The CM emphasized that these missiles symbolize India’s self-reliance in defence. “Through missiles like BrahMos, India is now capable not only of meeting its own security requirements but also of supporting the defence needs of friendly countries worldwide.”
