Ramgarh, June 10: Ramgarh Engineering College joined the “one-rupee mango economy” entrepreneurship program of Dr Gautam Roychowdhury, Chairman of Techno India Group and Chancellor of Techno India University.

The Institute Innovation Council, Eco club, Entrepreneurship cell and NSS club of Ramgarh Engineering College, have successfully undertaken a large-scale mango tree plantation program on its campus. This initiative is part of the college’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.

Techno India Group

Prof Mohit Chattopadhyay, Vice Chairman, Techno India Group inaugurated the program. Prof Chattopadhyay said that Dr Gautam Roychowdhury’s vision extends to planting one trillion mango plants over the next decade. These will be cultivated in diverse locations such as rooftops, barren lands, roadsides, canals, riversides, and wetlands.

This initiative, known as the one-rupee mango economy, aims to drive a new green revolution, combat global warming, enhance Techno India Group’s carbon credits, and reduce its carbon footprint.

Aim to enhance green cover of campus

The plantation drive, which saw the active participation of students, faculty, and local community members, aims to enhance the green cover of the campus, improve air quality, and offer practical learning experiences in ecological conservation. Various species of mango trees were selected for their suitability to the local climate and soil conditions.

1,000 mango exporters

The project Is supported by 1,000 mango exporters who will purchase the mangoes after five years. These exporters will also fund higher education for one child from each grower’s family at Techno India Universities, under the ‘Earn and Learn’ scheme. This program is in partnership with 1,000 universities worldwide, ensuring that graduates secure jobs, manage family farms online, and support five underprivileged children in their villages, thus creating a ripple effect of empowerment.
