Ramgarh, June 10: Ramgarh Engineering College joined the “one-rupee mango economy” entrepreneurship program of Dr Gautam Roychowdhury, Chairman of Techno India Group and Chancellor of Techno India University.
The Institute Innovation Council, Eco club, Entrepreneurship cell and NSS club of Ramgarh Engineering College, have successfully undertaken a large-scale mango tree plantation program on its campus. This initiative is part of the college’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.

Techno India Group
Prof Mohit Chattopadhyay, Vice Chairman, Techno India Group inaugurated the program. Prof Chattopadhyay said that Dr Gautam Roychowdhury’s vision extends to planting one trillion mango plants over the next decade. These will be cultivated in diverse locations such as rooftops, barren lands, roadsides, canals, riversides, and wetlands.
This initiative, known as the one-rupee mango economy, aims to drive a new green revolution, combat global warming, enhance Techno India Group’s carbon credits, and reduce its carbon footprint.
Aim to enhance green cover of campus
The plantation drive, which saw the active participation of students, faculty, and local community members, aims to enhance the green cover of the campus, improve air quality, and offer practical learning experiences in ecological conservation. Various species of mango trees were selected for their suitability to the local climate and soil conditions.

Prof Dr Goutam Roychowdhury, funder, and chairman of Techno India Group who has a remarkable track record of empowering 1 million individuals over 39 years, plans to uplift rural communities through a strategic blend of sustainable agriculture and education. The initiative will train 2 million villagers to grow 40 export-quality mango plants each, at the nominal cost of one rupee per plant.
1,000 mango exporters
The project Is supported by 1,000 mango exporters who will purchase the mangoes after five years. These exporters will also fund higher education for one child from each grower’s family at Techno India Universities, under the ‘Earn and Learn’ scheme. This program is in partnership with 1,000 universities worldwide, ensuring that graduates secure jobs, manage family farms online, and support five underprivileged children in their villages, thus creating a ripple effect of empowerment.
Plan to plant 500 trees in Ramgarh Engineering College
“We will plant 500 trees in Ramgarh Engineering College,” stated Professor Chattopadhyay. He also shared his comprehensive overview of the plantation plan, emphasizing its environmental and educational benefits. The project aims to enhance the green cover of the campus, improve air quality, and provide hands-on learning opportunities for students. This initiative is a testament to the college’s commitment to sustainability and ecological conservation, reflecting broader efforts to engage the community and promote environmental awareness.
Principal, Dr Sharbani Roy, Vice Principal, Dr Nazmul Islam, Dr.Asish Narayan, Arunabha Datta, Nilesh Kumar, Rupam Pal, Pinaki Ranjan Das, Abhinaba Biswas, Ashim Kumar Mahato, Dr.Bagesh Bihari, Pallab Das, Abhishek Mukherjee, Pijush Mondal, Sikender and students were present in this program.
