Ranchi, Sept 27: Regional Passport Officer Manita K has said that the Ministry of External Affairs is taking several steps to facilitate easy delivery of passports to the people of Jharkhand.
She said that Gumla and Giridih post-office-based Passport Seva Kendras are being converted from offline to online mode. “This will enable Ranchi the Passport Office to process the applications received at these centres in real-time,” she added.
“Keeping the increasing number of applications for passports in mind and to provide even better service and experience to the citizens, a new and bigger application centre is being opened in Ranchi,” she added.
Manita K said that in place of the existing “Passport Seva Kendra”, a new “Passport Seva Kendra” will become functional in MIMEC IT Park, Namkum Industrial Area within a few months. “This new service centre will handle at least 700 passports in a day,” she pointed out.
Manita further said that for the convenience of Godda residents, the Regional Passport Office is going to establish “Post Office Passport Seva Kendra” in the main post office located at Godda. “After its establishment, this will be the sixteenth passport application centre in the state of Jharkhand. It will be inaugurated soon by Godda MP Nishikant Dubey,” she said.
The same Regional Passport Office is enabling the “Passport Seva Kendras” located in Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Chaibasa Post Offices to accept more passport applications than before,” she said.
