Ranchi, Oct 28: Dr Ajit Kumar, a laser and laparoscopic surgeon at Ranchi Sadar Hospital, made a significant impression on medical experts during his presentation on piles and varicose vein diseases at the two-day National Summit “Ansh 2024,” which concluded in Mumbai on Sunday evening.
The summit drew over 900 participants, including directors from prestigious institutions like AIIMS and BHU, both in person and online, who delivered lectures on various health conditions.
Key insights on piles disease
During his lecture, Dr Ajit provided valuable insights into the signs, grading, preventive measures, and treatment options for piles disease.
He emphasized the alarming prevalence of this condition, stating, “Almost half the population is in the grip of this disease. This disease is related to the lifestyle of people. Due to changing food habits these days, this disease is taking the shape of a pandemic.”

Identifying symptoms
In his presentation, Dr Ajit identified common symptoms of piles disease, including blood in the toilet, anal itching, and discomfort in the anal region. He urged attendees to recognize these signs early for timely intervention.
Prevention
Dr Ajit also offered practical advice on preventing piles disease. He strongly recommended avoiding the use of mobile phones while in the toilet and advised against straining during bowel movements.
He encouraged individuals to drink at least 2-3 litres of water daily and to focus on incorporating more vegetables into their diets to promote overall digestive health.
In his lecture, Dr. Ajit also highlighted the specialized facilities available at Ranchi Sadar Super Specialty Hospital, sharing this valuable information with experts from across the country.
