Ranchi, Sept 22: Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth today said that various PSUs have given their approval to install 2000 solar high mast lights in the rural areas of Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency. “Very soon all the lights will be installed in rural areas,” Seth, MP from Ranchi, said.

Addressing a press conference here, the minister said that with the objective of proper lighting arrangements in the rural areas connected to Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency, it was his effort to install solar lights in every village.

Project to cost Rs 6 crores

“This effort of mine has been successful. Approval has been given for 2000 high mast lights for Rs 6 crores. The cost of one light is approximately Rs 30,000. All these lights will be installed at a distance of 15 feet, which will have 30 lights of 30 watts. The best thing will be that these lights will be charged by solar and will light up automatically when it gets dark in the evening,” he pointed out.

The Union Minister of State for Defence said that through this light, all the village’s street corners, squares and intersections will be illuminated and people will get great relief even in elephant-affected areas.

Places which will get solar lights

He said that these solar lights will be installed at Sarna Sthal, Dhumkudia Bhawan, Community Building, Akhara, Chaupal, Important Chowks and Crossings, Panchayat Bhawan, Platform, Elephant-affected areas and other public places.

He said that his efforts always continue with the thought that the Ranchi Lok Sabha constituency should have proper development. “This work is also a part of that,” he added.

Seth also criticized the state government and said that it is running on oppressive policies. “Jharkhand residents are being oppressed in every way – physically, mentally, economically. Murders are happening openly. Crimes are being committed against women. There has been a wild rise in the incidents of snatching in the capital Ranchi and the government and administration are sitting idle,” he said.

Seth raps state govt for internet shutdown

Regarding the internet being shut down for two days, Seth said that it was like an undeclared emergency. “The internet was shut down with the aim that corruption and malpractice of the JSSC exam do not spread among the general public. The purpose of shutting down the internet was not to stop malpractice and corruption. Malpractice and corruption are already happening, it was stopped with the aim that it does not spread among the general public. The public will answer for every act of this government,” he signed off.
