Ranchi, April 18: In a major political flashpoint, BJP state president Babulal Marandi has alleged that the recent removal of RIMS Director Dr. Rajkumar is directly linked to his resistance against corruption. According to Marandi, the director was sacked for refusing to approve illegal payments to private companies.

Pressure to pay without contracts
Marandi claimed that during a recent Governing Council meeting at RIMS, the Health Minister and a senior departmental official pressured the director to release crores of rupees to private diagnostic centers — despite there being no formal contracts. When the director pushed back and refused to approve the payments, he was reportedly threatened and insulted. He even offered to resign on the spot rather than comply.

Government’s message: corruption will continue
The BJP alleges that the director’s dismissal sends a clear message — that the government is not only ignoring corruption but actively punishing those who try to stop it. Marandi said this isn’t the first time this has happened. During Hemant Soren’s previous tenure, several RIMS directors allegedly stepped down early after facing similar pressure.

“Shut it down if you won’t listen”
He added that if the government refuses to respect the advice of the RIMS Governing Council, there’s no point in holding such meetings. “If no one’s going to listen, just dissolve the council,” he said.

A hospital or a corruption hub?
Calling the situation “very sad,” Marandi accused the Chief Minister of turning RIMS — the state’s largest government hospital — into the center of organized corruption.
