New Delhi, April 15: Businessman Robert Vadra, husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and brother-in-law of Rahul Gandhi, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi on Tuesday in connection with a money laundering investigation related to a 2008 land deal in Haryana’s Shikohpur.

The case involves Vadra’s firm, Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd, which had purchased 3.5 acres of land from Onkareshwar Properties for ₹7.5 crore. It is alleged that the land’s mutation was completed within hours.
Soon after the purchase, Haryana’s town planning department issued a letter of intent to develop a commercial colony on 2.71 acres of the land. Skylight later entered into an agreement with real estate giant DLF to sell the plot for ₹58 crore. The sale deed was subsequently registered in DLF’s name. The Haryana Police had initially registered a case in the matter in 2018.

Vadra arrived at the ED office on APJ Abdul Kalam Road on foot, walking about two kilometers from his residence at Sujan Singh Park, accompanied by his security personnel and surrounded by media.
Speaking to reporters outside the ED headquarters, he alleged, “This is nothing but political vendetta. They try to crush us whenever I speak for minorities. They even attempted to stop Rahul in Parliament. This is clearly a misuse of agencies.”
He added that he would cooperate with the agency as he had done in previous instances. Vadra had earlier been summoned by the ED on April 8 but requested a fresh date.
The agency is now recording his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He has faced questioning in the past in another separate money laundering case.
