Ranchi, Dec 16: Samridhi Priya of West Singhbhum emerged victorious in the Jharkhand School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Under-15 girls’ chess championship held in Ranchi.
The DAV Chaibasa student remained the only unbeaten player in the tournament, scoring the highest points and securing her place in the state team for the national SGFI championship, scheduled to be held in Guwahati next month.

Samridhi Priya is an internationally rated player (1462) with a history of medals at state-level competitions.

Basant Kumar Khandelwal, General Secretary of the West Singhbhum District Chess Association, noted that five players from the district performed well in the Ranchi SGFI tournament.
Sanaya Singh claimed third place in the Under-7 girls event, Mayara Shah secured third in the Under-11 girls category, Aditya Burdhan Sharma took third in the Under-13 boys section, and Shalu Kumari finished third in the Under-15 girls category.

Mukund Rungta, President of the Association, along with coach Manish Sharma, congratulated all the players for their exceptional performances and praised their dedication and skill.
