Jamshedpur, Nov 18: The change of leadership of the Jamshedpur chapter of IACC (Indo-American Chamber of Commerce) happened with the conclusion of the Eastern India Council Annual meeting at Kolkata. Nakul Kamani stepped down from the Chairmanship after a second term at the helm of the IACC. Sanjeev Raman (Vice Chairman), was elected as the Chairman and Dilip Goel was re-elected as Vice Chairman.  Gyan Taneja was elected as the Second Vice Chairman. Nakul Kamani will also be part of the Eastern India Regional Council of IACC.

Ram Phal Nehra, Plant Head, Cummins India, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), established in 1968, is the apex bilateral Chamber synergizing India-US Economic Engagement. Today IACC has a pan-India presence with 2400 members at 12 locations, representing a cross-section of US and Indian industries. The major objective of IACC is to promote Indo-American business, trade and economic relations.

IACC promotes bilateral trade, investment and technology transfer, and facilitates business collaborations, joint ventures, marketing tie-ups and strategic alliances through a set of proactive business-oriented initiatives.

Kamani briefed the members about the circumstances in which he had to once again take over as Chairman of the Chapter owning to the abrupt resignation of the then Chairman Himadri Sarkar. The main highlights of his second tenure were the visit of the US Consul General Melinda Pavek to Jamshedpur in October and the substantial increase in the membership strength.

A new series of talks called Student Program for Academic and Cultural Excellence (SPACE) was also initiated by him, and it was much appreciated. The first talk in this series was on the James Webb telescope and was held just a couple of weeks ago with participation from NASA in Florida USA, and Explore the Space from Tamil Nadu.

The new Chairman Sanjeev Raman thanked members for reposing faith in him. He said that he would further enhance the scope of the SPACE program to include US scholarship and VISA program to be conducted by USIEF (United States India Education Foundation). The emphasis would be to have a more MSME focused approach.

A Program on Environmental Social and Governance ( ESG) is being planned for the benefit of MSME. XLRI extended support in conducting programs for greater awareness among the student community. Eminent professionals and speakers are being approached to widen the spectrum of industrial activities in Jharkhand. The US commercial Services Department would also be approached to give a view on various business opportunities with US companies.

Ram Phal Nehra expressed his happiness on the good work being done by the organization. He said that Cummins would extend all support to the organization. He also expressed his desire to participate in the SPACE program for the students as his organization keeps inviting students to their physics lab for knowledge sharing.
