Satwiksairaj-Chirag reclaim top spot in BWF Rankings after Thailand Open victory

New Delhi, May 21: Following their victory at the Thailand Open last week, the Indian men’s badminton pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have reclaimed the top spot in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) Rankings.

Satwiksairaj and Chirag have moved up two spots to take back the top spot with 99,670 points in the most recent rankings, which were released on Tuesday.

Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, the gold medallists from the Asian Games, won the men’s doubles championship in the Thailand Open Super 500 badminton on Sunday.

They secured another title by defeating China’s Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi in straight sets. This victory adds to their trophy cabinet, making it their second Thailand Open title, with the first one won in 2019.

They duo secured their ninth BWF World Tour title with a 21-15, 21-15 victory over Chen and Yi, marking their second title of the year after their win at the French Open in March.
