New Delhi, July 22: The Supreme Court has issued a directive concerning the Kanwar Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, instructing all hotel owners along the yatra route to comply with statutory licensing and registration requirements.

The Court stated that hotel operators must possess valid licenses and registration certificates as mandated by law. It also clarified that it is not currently addressing the broader issues raised in the ongoing debate.

During the hearing, the bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and Kotiswar Singh also refused to stay, for now, the directives issued by the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments mandating eateries to display QR codes that provide details of their owners.

In addition, the Court stated it will not examine the mandatory QR code requirement at this stage. It noted that matters related to QR codes and similar issues can be taken up as part of the main petition, which remains under consideration.
