Mohali, March 13: A shocking incident has been reported from Mohali, Punjab, where 39-year-old scientist Dr. Abhishek Swarnkar was beaten to death over a parking dispute. Abhishek was originally from Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
A dispute over parking a bike led to his neighbour brutally assaulting him. The attack was so severe that it resulted in his death.
Dr. Abhishek lived with his family in Sector 67, Mohali, and was currently working with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).
According to reports, Dr. Abhishek returned from work at 8:30 PM on Tuesday and parked his bike. At this, his neighbor Monty and some others present objected to the parking space and started hurling abuses.

The dispute escalated into a scuffle, and Abhishek was pushed to the ground and brutally beaten. He lived in a rented house in Mohali with his elderly parents. His family has accused their neighbour Monty, of attacking him.
Dr. Abhishek had previously worked in Switzerland but returned to India due to health concerns. He had recently undergone a kidney transplant and was also undergoing dialysis. One of his two married sisters had donated a kidney to him. Several of his research papers have been published in renowned international journals.
After returning to India, he joined IISER Mohali as a project scientist. His brother revealed that Abhishek became part of IISER in October 2020 and was residing with his elderly parents in a rented flat in Mohali. He also mentioned that their family home in Katras, Dhanbad, is currently unoccupied.
