Sona Devi University holds poster, slogan-writing competition

 

Jamshedpur, May 20: As part of the run-up to World Environment Day, Sona Devi University organised a vibrant poster and slogan-writing competition that witnessed enthusiastic participation from 23 students, who showcased creativity and a strong commitment towards environmental conservation.

Through thought-provoking posters and inspiring slogans, participants highlighted important themes such as water conservation, afforestation, a plastic-free society, clean surroundings, and the need for a greener future.

The presentations reflected growing environmental awareness and social responsibility among the youth.

Students showcase environmental awareness through creative expression

The event was organised under the guidance of Dr Subhash Hore, Dr Kusum Kumari Lakra, and Dharani Mahato, whose mentorship encouraged students to display remarkable creativity and talent.

Registrar Dr Nit Nayana said World Environment Day is not merely an occasion for celebration, but an opportunity to understand and fulfil collective responsibilities towards nature.

“World Environment Day is not just an event, but a reminder of our collective responsibility towards protecting the environment,” Dr Nit Nayana said.

University stresses sustainability and social responsibility

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Braj Mohan Pat Pingua highlighted the inseparable bond between humanity and the environment, stating that such creative initiatives help nurture social awareness and environmental sensitivity among students.

“Humanity and the environment are deeply connected. Activities like these encourage students to become more socially and environmentally conscious,” Prof Pingua said.

Chancellor Prabhakar Singh urged students to treat the Earth as a shared legacy for future generations and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

“The Earth is a shared inheritance for future generations, and protecting it is our collective duty,” Singh said.

The programme concluded with students and faculty members taking collective pledges for environmental protection, creating an atmosphere of awareness, positivity, and shared commitment across the university campus.
