Jamshedpur, August 16: Sona Devi University observed a two-minute silence on its campus today in memory of Jharkhand’s late Education Minister and senior JMM leader, Ramdas Soren, praying for the peace of his departed soul.

The condolence meet was attended by several faculty heads, assistant professors, and staff members.

Later in the day, the mortal remains of Ramdas Soren were brought to the HCL ground at Maubhandar in Ghatshila for public homage.

A large number of supporters, with tearful eyes, queued up to pay their last respects. Both men and women prayed for the peace of their beloved leader’s soul.

On behalf of Sona Devi University, a five-member delegation led by Chancellor Prabhakar Singh offered a floral wreath at the venue, paying heartfelt tribute to the departed leader.
Sujita Hansda, a resident of Kitadih village, laid the wreath on behalf of the university.
Following the public homage, the mortal remains were taken with full honors to his ancestral village, Ghorabandha, for the final rites.

It may be recalled that Minister Ramdas Soren passed away late last night at a hospital in New Delhi, where he had been under treatment.
The state government has declared a one-day official mourning in his honor.
