Jamshedpur, Dec 5: The Master Athletic Association of Jharkhand is set to host The Great Jharkhand Run and the 4th Master Athletic Championship 2024 on Sunday, December 8, starting at 5:00 AM. The events will take place at the iconic JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
Addressing the press, Vijay Singh, President of the Jharkhand Athletic Association, shared detailed insights into the championship. The event will feature male and female athletes across 10 age categories, ranging from 30+ to 85+ years.
Key events for men include races of 100m, 400m, and 800m, as well as race walking, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, long jump, and triple jump.
The women’s events will include 100m and 200m races, 1km race walking, long jump, shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw.
This year, participants from 17 districts of Jharkhand have shown immense enthusiasm, with over 1,000 athletes and 120 technical officials expected to participate.

Notably, this is the first time such a large-scale event is being organized in Jamshedpur. Accommodation arrangements have been made for outstation athletes, and all participants will receive T-shirts, medals, and certificates.
Winners will be awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with certificates.
The event will also feature The Great Jharkhand Run in the morning session, open to participants aged 12 to 85 years across 10 categories. For men, the race will cover 3 kilometres for ages 12-50 and 2 kilometres for the 50-62+ age groups.
Women aged 18-40+ will compete in a 2-kilometre race. Winners in each category will receive cash prizes, medals, and certificates.
The press conference was addressed by key figures including Vijay Singh, President of the Master Athletic Association of Jharkhand; S.K. Tomar, Secretary; Gyan Singh, Senior Vice-President and a former national athlete; and Arif Imam, international coach and chief patron. Press spokesperson Gurusharan Singh and Shyam Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the East Singhbhum unit of the association, were also present at the occasion.
