Jamshedpur, Jan 3: Jharkhand is in grip of intense cold as sub-10 chill prevailed in the entire state.

Weathermen attributed the intense cold to crisp and cold dominating north-westerly wind blowing from the northern parts of the country.

Snowfalls in Jammu and Kashmir and several other places in northern India have triggered the flow of cold wind.

“We don’t see any adverse weather conditions which might impact Jharkhand’s weather in the next 2 to 3 days. Most districts would witness clear sky with sub-10 chill,” said a duty officer at Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Statistics revealed that Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius while Jamshedpur recorded 9.8 degrees Celsius.

The IMD observatory at Daltonganj today recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius while Bokaro Steel City recorded a minimum temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature dropped to 8 degrees Celsius at several places in Kolhan including Chaibasa in the neighbouring West Singhbhum.

The minimum temperature plummeted to 4.5 degrees Celsius at Chatra while Deoghar and Dhanbad recorded minimum temperature of around 6.5 degrees Celsius today.

Hazaribag today recorded a minimum temperature of 6.9 degrees Celsius while adjoining Khunti recorded a low of 5.3 degrees Celsius.

According to Met statistics, Lohardaga today recorded a minimum temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius while Pakur recorded 8.6 degrees.

Simdega recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius while Ramgarh today recorded a minimum temperature of 7.3 degrees Celsius.

According to Met statistics only Godda district was a bit warmer with the local observatory recording a minimum temperature of 11.6 degrees Celsius today.
