PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Nov 27: Jharkhand is experiencing a sharp fall in temperatures as a strong Jharkhand cold wave tightens its grip across the state. With no major synoptic system affecting the region and northerly to north-westerly winds dominating the lower troposphere, cold and dry weather conditions have strengthened over the past 24 hours.

Dry weather accelerates night cooling

Meteorological observations indicate that dry weather prevailed statewide, allowing rapid heat loss during the night. As a result, several districts recorded minimum temperatures close to 10°C, marking the first widespread spell of biting cold this season.

Gumla coldest at 8.8°C

Gumla emerged as the coldest location in Jharkhand, dipping to 8.8°C.
Other districts such as Ranchi, Lohardaga, Latehar, Khunti, and Bokaro also recorded chilly early-morning conditions, with minimum temperatures settling between 10°C and 11°C.

Day temperatures remain below normal

Daytime temperatures stayed on the lower side as well. Godda recorded Jharkhand’s highest maximum at 28.2°C, while most regions remained within the 24°C to 27°C range under clear skies and cool north-westerly winds.

Colder mornings in store for Jharkhand

With north-westerly winds likely to continue, the state is expected to witness colder mornings and strengthened winter conditions in the coming days.
