Jamshedpur, Nov 21: It’s time for the oration on business ethics which the XLRI community looks forward with much eagerness.

Advisor-cum-director at the Tata Group Harish Bhat will deliver the 32nd annual JRD Tata Oration on Business Ethics at XLRI Jamshedpur tomorrow, Friday.

The topic for this year’s oration is “Doing the Right Thing – The Legacy of Ratan Tata”.

The lecture on business ethics will be organised at the Tata auditorium from 6.30 pm.

Notably, the JRD Tata Oration on Business Ethics has gained importance over the years not only among the B-school students and its faculty but also among corporate circles, especially Tata Steel and its associate companies.

It is an important event for the B- school as emphasis is laid on ethics and business principles.

Who is Harish Bhat?

Harish Bhat was chosen for the prestigious oration as he has worked with the Tata Group for 37 years. Over this long period, he has held many senior roles in the group including as brand custodian at Tata Sons, managing director and CEO at Tata Global Beverages and chief operating officer of the watches and jewellery businesses at Titan Company.

After his superannuation last year, Harish is now serving as an advisor at Tata Sons. He is also a director on the boards of some Tata companies including Trent, Infinity Retail (Croma) and Tata Starbucks.

Harish Bhat is a graduate of BITS Pilani and an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad.

An avid marketer Harish has helped nurture and grow many iconic brands of the Tata Group such as Tanishq, Titan, Fastrack, Tata Tea and Chakra Gold Tea. In his most recent role, he led the development and growth of Tata which is India’s most valuable brand.

The JRD Tata Foundation in Business Ethics was established in 1991 to mark XLRI’s longstanding commitment and contribution to business ethics in India.
