Jamshedpur, May 11: Reinforcing its commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting sports and wellness, Tata Steel on Sunday inaugurated its Summer Camp 2026 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

Organised by Tata Steel’s Sports Division, the camp will run from May 11 to May 31.

Apart from Jamshedpur, similar summer camps are being organised across Tata Steel’s operational locations, including TSK, TSM and TGS, extending the spirit of sports, fitness and community engagement to a wider audience.

The initiative also focuses on inclusivity, with participation from 40 children with special needs and nearly 100 children from Masti Ki Pathshala.

Training in 19 Sports Disciplines

The camp offers training in 19 sports and activity disciplines, including athletics, badminton, volleyball, football, swimming, yoga, Zumba, karate, boxing, chess, basketball, horse riding and roller-skating.

Continuing a successful initiative introduced last year, the camp will also feature Roll Ball skating for children aged between 4 and 6 years.

Adding to the excitement this year is the introduction of Pickleball, one of the fastest-growing sports globally, which will be open to participants across all age groups.

Special Workshops and Fitness Programmes

Special programmes for adults include self-defence training sessions, along with structured fitness and weight management initiatives.

Fun and recreational activities for parents and guardians will also be organised periodically during the camp.

The Summer Camp will additionally host expert-led workshops designed for different age groups.

Children aged 6 to 12 years will take part in play-based sessions focused on wellness, creativity, teamwork and storytelling, while teenagers aged 13 to 19 years will participate in workshops on leadership, resilience, communication, mindset development and performing under pressure.

Focus on Safety and Sports Nutrition

To ensure a safe and respectful environment, all coaches and instructors associated with the programme have undergone POSH and ethical conduct training.

Participants will also benefit from informative sessions on sports nutrition and hydration conducted by Tata Steel’s in-house nutritionist.

Through Summer Camp 2026, Tata Steel aims to further strengthen its vision of fostering sporting excellence while creating inclusive platforms for holistic development and community participation.
