Dhanbad, Dec 18: Bhelatand Colliery clinched the glittering champion trophy of the Tata Steel Jharia Division inter-colliery cricket championship defeating  Jamadoba Group in the final by 1 run at Digwadih stadium.

Jamadoba Group won the toss and elected to bat first. The team scored 140 runs losing 6 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Vikash Rajak was the highest scorer with 38 runs while Krishna Kant contributed 29. Amar Chauhan of Bhelatand Colliery took 4 wickets.

In reply, Bhelatand Colliery chased the target (141) in 19.4 overs losing nine wickets in the process. Mithu Gope, who remained not out (17 ) was declared the man of the match.

Pankaj Das, head, HRBP Jharia Division, was the chief guest in the final match and distributed the prizes.

Others present on the occasion  were Koushik Gayen, head Jamadoba Colliery, Santosh Mahato, regional Secretary, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU, Ian Richards Sandys, senior area manager, HRBP Jamadoba Group; Piyush Kumar, senior area manager, HRBP Sijua Group, Nakul Singh, secretary RCMU Digwadih Colliery, Mahmood Alam, secretary RCMU Bhelatand Colliery; and Omprakash Singh, president RCMU 6 & 7 Pits colliery.

Sona Devi University

Bal Shankar Jha, sports department in-charge coordinated the tournament.
