Ramgarh, December 16: Tata Steel West Bokaro Division observed the annual mine safety week-2023 at Quarry South East opencast mine on December 15.
It was conducted as a part of the 66th Annual Mine Safety Week 2023 (Ranchi Koderma Zone), celebrated from December 15 to December 24 under the Directorate General of Mine Safety guidelines.
A team of 8 members led by Sanjay Kumar, Project Officer, Ashok Project cum Convener (Inspection Team) inspected the mines. Ratnakar Sunki, DMS (Mechanical), DGMS, Ranchi, B P Singh ISO, and CCL accompanied the team as observers.

Safety flag
On this occasion, Sanjay Kumar, Project Officer and Ratnakar Sunki, DGMS, jointly hoisted the safety flag, and everyone took the safety pledge. The team inspected the stalls and models put up by other vendor partners, including Gainwell Comosales Pvt. Ltd., Revathi Equipment Ltd., Universal MPM Project, Tire Technocrates, L&T, Orica, Tata Hitachi and Epirock, where they saw the various stalls and models on display.
100 employees awarded
Safety songs and safety skits were also presented on the occasion. More than 100 employees were awarded for improving safety at the mine and workplace. Prem Prakash Singh, Senior Area Manager, Safety, Quarry SE, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel, moderated the programme.
In the stall category, the first prize was given to Gainwell Comosales Pvt Ltd, the second prize was given to Mine Model of Quarry SE and the third prize went to Universal MPM Project. Gainwell Comosales Pvt Ltd was awarded for Overall 5S and Visual Display, while Tata Hitachi was awarded for the Safety Improvement Initiative.
West Bokaro Division
On this occasion, Santosh Mishra, Head, Safety, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel, along with Mahesh Prasad, President, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union, West Bokaro, PK Singh, Secretary, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union, West Bokaro, officials and unions of Tata Steel were present.
