Ranchi, August 2: In a landmark move underscoring the importance of public hygiene within judicial institutions, Ranchi Civil Court has launched an extensive cleanliness drive across its premises. The initiative comes in response to directives issued by the Jharkhand High Court after a recent inspection by Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chouhan.

This large-scale campaign was launched by the Judicial Commissioner of Ranchi, Anil Kumar Mishra, joined by all district judicial officers. In a show of solidarity and shared responsibility, judges and advocates symbolically took up brooms to mark the commencement of the drive—signalling a powerful commitment to maintaining dignity and order within the court’s environment.

Setting a New Standard in Court Cleanliness

Described as unprecedented in scale, the drive spans all court blocks, waiting areas, record rooms, and adjacent pathways. It is being carried out in close coordination with the Ranchi Bar Association, whose president, alongside numerous members of the legal community, has pledged active involvement.

The collaborative effort highlights a shared ethos between the Bench and the Bar—uniting for a cause that transcends legal practice and touches on civic responsibility.

“Clean Premises Reflect a Clean System”

Speaking at the launch, the Judicial Commissioner emphasised the importance of a clean, orderly court environment as a reflection of the judiciary’s stature and integrity. The Bar Association’s president echoed these sentiments, urging advocates and staff alike to take ownership of their surroundings.

The campaign has generated strong participation from court staff, para-legal volunteers, and Bar members. It will continue through August 10, with sustained efforts to ensure the entire premises are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

More Than a Gesture—A Call to Civic Discipline

Far from a one-off symbolic effort, the drive marks a renewed push for ongoing cleanliness and collective responsibility within the justice delivery system. It sets a powerful precedent—not just for Ranchi, but for court institutions across the state.
