Jamshedpur, March 11: Several parts of Jharkhand are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over the coming days, according to the latest weather outlook issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Weather officials said isolated areas in the eastern and adjoining central regions of the state are expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning with wind speeds reaching around thirty to forty kilometres per hour.
Similar weather conditions are likely to affect the north-eastern parts of Jharkhand the following day.

Meteorologists said there will be no significant weather activity for a brief period before thunderstorm activity returns later in the week.
From the weekend onward, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected at isolated locations across most parts of the state, except the north-western region.
Weather activity may become more widespread across Jharkhand the next day, while north-western districts could experience similar conditions later.

Atmospheric Conditions Behind the Weather
Meteorologists attributed the expected weather activity to the presence of a trough extending from Bihar to north Chhattisgarh across Jharkhand at lower atmospheric levels.
Another trough running from west Assam to Gangetic West Bengal across Bangladesh has also developed at a slightly higher level in the atmosphere. The interaction of these systems is contributing to atmospheric instability over the region, leading to thunderstorms and lightning.
Rainfall Recorded
Light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms was recorded at isolated places in the state during the past twenty-four hours.
The highest rainfall was recorded at Hindigiri in Hazaribagh district, where more than ten millimetres of precipitation was reported.
Advisory for Residents
The weather department has advised residents to remain alert during thunderstorm activity, particularly when outdoors.
Officials warned that lightning strikes and strong winds can pose risks in open areas, urging people to take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions.
