Kolkata, June 14: The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) declared its candidates on Friday for the July 10 by-elections to four assembly seats in West Bengal.

TMC has put forth Mukut Mani Adhikari from the Ranaghat-Dakshin constituency and Krishna Kalyani from the Raiganj seat.

Supti Pandey, widow of ex-TMC MLA Sadhan Pandey, has been selected to run for the Maniktala seat in Kolkata, while Madhuparna Thakur has been chosen as the candidate for the Bagda seat, which has a significant Matua population.

The Raiganj and Ranaghat assembly constituencies became vacant when Kalyani and Adhikari, who were BJP MLAs, joined the TMC and were unsuccessful in their bids for Lok Sabha seats.

The Maniktala seat became vacant after Sadhan Pande passed away in 2022.

Biswajit Das, the sitting BJP MLA from Bagda, switched allegiance to the TMC but was unsuccessful in his attempt to secure the Bangaon Lok Sabha seat.
