Jamshedpur, June 10: Two separate murder incidents reported from different parts of Jamshedpur on Wednesday have shocked residents and raised concerns over the growing impact of mistrust and domestic disputes. Police have arrested the accused in both cases and launched detailed investigations.

Woman allegedly killed by husband in MGM area
In the first incident, a 38-year-old woman, Gita Mandal, was allegedly murdered by her husband in the MGM police station area following a domestic dispute.

According to police sources, frequent quarrels had erupted between the couple as the husband suspected his wife’s fidelity. The situation reportedly escalated on Tuesday when a heated argument broke out between them.

During the altercation, the accused, Bapi Mandal, allegedly attacked his wife with a heavy kitchen mortar, causing severe head injuries. Family members rushed the injured woman to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Investigators later learned that both Gita and Bapi Mandal were in their second marriages. The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned by police.
Convoy driver beaten to death in Parsudih
In another shocking incident under the Parsudih police station area, a convoy driver identified as Mohan Soren, originally from Odisha, was allegedly beaten to death over suspicions of an illicit relationship.
The incident occurred in Karandih Line Tola, where the accused, Raju Murmu, reportedly believed that Mohan was involved with his wife.
Police said tensions between the two men had been simmering for some time before turning violent late on Tuesday night. Murmu allegedly assaulted Mohan with a cooking vessel and sticks, leaving him critically injured.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Accused’s wife denies allegations
During questioning, the accused’s wife denied allegations of any inappropriate relationship with Mohan.
She told investigators that her husband had assaulted her on Tuesday night, forcing her to leave home with her two children and take shelter at a neighbour’s house.
She further claimed that Mohan treated her like a relative and addressed her as “Mami”, insisting there was no illicit relationship between them.
Police investigation underway
Police have sent both bodies for post-mortem examinations and are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the murders.
The twin killings have sparked concern among residents, highlighting the devastating consequences of suspicion, domestic violence and personal conflicts.
