Bastar, April 16: In a major breakthrough in anti-Naxal operations, two hardcore insurgents were killed in an encounter near the Kondagaon-Narayanpur border in Chhattisgarh.

An AK-47 rifle and the bodies of the two Naxals were recovered from the site, according to Bastar IG P. Sundarraj.

The IG stated that in the encounter, security forces gunned down Haldar, a Divisional Committee member of the East Bastar Division, and Rame, an Area Committee member.

Security forces have intensified their presence in the area, with search operations currently underway to ensure no further threats remain.
