Srinagar, July 30: Indian security forces eliminated two terrorists in an encounter in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The gunfight broke out near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Degwar sector during a joint search operation by the Army and police following reports of suspicious movement in the area.
The Army stated that after spotting suspicious activity near the LoC, the area was cordoned off for a search.

During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, prompting retaliation in which both militants were killed on the spot.
In a post on X, the Army’s White Knight Corps said the operation was code-named “Shivshakti.” It confirmed that two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the LoC were neutralized.
“Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered,” the statement said.
The Army further added that the operation was carried out in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police and intelligence agencies, which had provided prior information about the terrorists’ movement.

The statement added that this joint effort successfully thwarted a major infiltration attempt and the operation is still underway.
