THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Bengaluru, March 8: A shocking and heinous crime has come to light in Hampi, a famous tourist destination in Karnataka. Reports indicate that anti-social elements raped two women, including a foreign tourist, and assaulted three men accompanying them before throwing them into the water.

According to the information, the body of one of the men thrown into the water was recovered by the police on Saturday morning. The police stated that the incident took place near Sanapur Lake between 11:00 and 11:30 PM on Thursday.

Israeli woman tourist and homestay operator raped

The attackers sexually assaulted a 27-year-old Israeli woman tourist and a 29-year-old homestay operator accompanying her.

According to reports, a tourist from Odisha was with the victims at the time of the incident. The assailants threw him into the canal, and his body was recovered this morning.

Additionally, two other tourists, one from the United States and another from Maharashtra, sustained injuries in the attack and have been hospitalized.

A special police team has been formed to investigate the incident, and a case has been registered at the Gangavathi Rural Police Station.

Incident details

According to the FIR registered at the police station, four tourists and a homestay operator were partying near Sanapur Lake when three men arrived on a motorcycle and asked about a petrol pump.

When the homestay operator informed them that there was no petrol pump nearby, they began demanding money. After the tourists refused, the attackers started abusing and assaulting them. They then forcibly pushed the three male tourists into the canal.

The assailants were speaking Kannada and Telugu. Since the incident, a special police team has been searching for the suspects.

The victim (the homestay operator) told the police that while her friends were trying to climb out of the canal, two of the three attackers raped her and the Israeli woman.

Since Friday morning, a dog squad and fire department officials had been searching for the missing tourist, whose body was recovered this morning.
