New Delhi, April 21: U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance arrived in Delhi at 9:30 AM today for his first official four-day visit to India. He was accompanied by his wife and Second Lady, Usha Vance, along with their three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Maribel.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw warmly welcomed Vance at the Palam Airbase, where he was accorded a Guard of Honour.

J.D. Vance’s visit comes at a time when tensions resembling a trade war are escalating between the United States and China. In this context, strengthening strategic and economic ties with India is being seen as highly significant for Washington.

Vice President J.D. Vance visited the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple early this morning, where he offered prayers. Tight security arrangements have been put in place across the temple premises for the visit. After visiting the temple, Vice President Vance will rest at the ITC Maurya Hotel.
Later in the evening, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Modi, where the final round of discussions on the U.S.-India trade agreement will take place.
In addition, key issues such as tariffs and strategic partnership will also be discussed. The meeting will be attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
On the second day of his four-day visit to India, April 22, Vance will travel to Jaipur, where he will tour historical sites such as the Amer Fort and Hawa Mahal. In the evening, he will address diplomats and policy experts at the Rajasthan International Centre.
The following day, April 23, he will visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram, before returning to Jaipur in the evening.
