Website glitches disrupt PF and ESI contribution consultancy services in Jamshedpur

Amulya Consultancy Services head Uday Satpathy waiting anxiously revival of sites at his office in Adityapur on Tuesday night.

Jamshedpur, January 14: Consultancy service centres across Jamshedpur are facing serious difficulties in processing Provident Fund (PF) and Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) contributions due to prolonged website outages.

Consultants said the official websites of ESI and Provident Fund have remained non-functional for the past 24 hours, leaving them unable to process employer contributions.

Several consultancy firms, known for maintaining professional standards, expressed resentment as authorities have not announced any extension of the deadline, even though the last date for processing PF and ESI contributions is January 15.

Consultants Express Helplessness

Uday Satpathy, head of Amulya Consultancy Services, said he was extremely disappointed as routine contribution processing work had come to a halt.

“The websites — www.esic.gov.in and www.providentfund.gov.in — have not been opening since Monday. We are required to process employer contributions by January 15, which is the last date. But we have no option other than to wait,” Satpathy told The Jharkhand Story.

He added that neither the Provident Fund nor the ESI authorities have announced any extension so far.

Fear of Last-Minute Rush and Penalties

Satpathy said that while technical glitches may be the reason behind the website failure, the lack of clarity is causing stress among consultants.

“If the websites open at the eleventh hour, it will be extremely difficult to process such a large number of contributions,” he said, adding that he spent hours late into the night at his office hoping the sites would resume.

Delay Could Invite Penalties

The issue is significant as any delay in PF and ESI contributions, regardless of the reason, may attract penalties from the concerned departments, putting employers at risk.

Attempts to contact the Provident Fund Commissioner, Jamshedpur, for comments were unsuccessful.
