Ranchi, July 31: The Jharkhand assembly witnessed an unprecedented scene when the BJP MLAs, seeking answers from Chief Minister Hemant Soren on various issues, trooped into the well at 11 am and remained there even as Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto adjourned the House.
According to BJP MLAs, when they refused to come out of the House, the Assembly secretariate snapped the power and water supply and locked the House.
Soon thereafter, several BJP leaders, including Jharkhand Incharge Lakshmikant Vajpayee swung into action and went to the press describing the Assembly secretariat’s action as a ‘murder of democracy’.
Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri termed it as a ‘dark chapter of democracy’.
“The NDA MLAs are sitting on dharna on questions of the public, including regularisation of contract workers, para teachers, against not fulfilling the promise of 5 lakh jobs,” he maintained.
He said women MLAs are also troubled and added that the government and the assembly speaker are not concerned.

However, all the MLAs of the ruling party left the House.
When the proceedings of the House started after the lunch break, Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri raised the issue of the announcement made by Hemant Soren.
