Jamshedpur, Jan 15: XLRI successfully concluded the Third International Ethics Conference 2026, organised by the XLRI JRD Tata Foundation for Business Ethics, from January 9 to 11. The conference brought together academicians, industry leaders, practitioners, and students from India and abroad to deliberate on the future of ethical, sustainable, and responsible business leadership.

Held on the theme “Reimagining Business and Leadership: Ethics, Sustainability, and the Future of Responsible Growth,” the conference underscored the growing importance of leadership grounded in integrity, compassion, and social responsibility.

Ethics at the Core of Leadership

In his inaugural address, Fr George Sebastian, Director, XLRI, emphasised that true leadership is not driven by competition alone, but by ethical purpose, human values, and concern for society.

The three-day programme featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, and workshops focusing on human-centred leadership, frugal and sustainable innovation, inclusive development, artificial intelligence ethics, mental well-being, and women’s leadership.

Global and Indian Perspectives

Renowned thought leaders, including Navi Radjou, Dr Prasad Kaipa, Prof Vasanthi Srinivasan, Prof Arup Varma, and Prof David Hillier shared insights on building organisations that balance high performance with social responsibility.

The conference placed strong emphasis on Indian realities, highlighting discussions on tribal economies, community leadership, grassroots entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth models.

Academic Engagement and Cultural Connect

The organisers received over 100 research papers, of which 22 were presented during the conference, reflecting increasing academic interest in business ethics and sustainability.

A special storytelling evening and an exhibition of products made by tribal women’s self-help groups added a cultural dimension to the event, reinforcing the connection between ethical business practices and community empowerment.

Commitment to Ethical Leadership

In his closing remarks, Fr Joseph Mathew, S.J., Chair of the JRD Tata Foundation for Business Ethics, reaffirmed XLRI’s commitment to nurturing leaders who combine professional excellence with moral courage.

The conference emerged as a strong reminder that ethical leadership is essential for building a just, resilient, and sustainable future.
