Ranchi, Nov. 17: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today countered BJP’s ‘Batenge toh katenge’ slogan, saying we will neither break nor divide, we will take our rights (ना टूटेंगे ना बटेंगे, अपना हक अधिकार लेकर रहेंगे ).

Soren, while campaigning in Jamua seeking votes for JMM candidate Kedar Hazra, said that in states like Manipur, atrocities are being committed against tribal women. “This is not hidden from anyone. The central government has increased inflation to the sky. Inflation has made it difficult for people to live. These people adopt the policies of divide and rule. It has been 24 years since the state was separated. Jharkhand should have been the richest state in the country; migration from here should have stopped. But this situation arose due to their wrong policies. Therefore, in this election, people should work to strengthen the government of the Mahagathbandhan,” he said.

No government had faced such a challenge

The chief minister said that we have served the people for five years. “The challenge that we have seen, no government had faced such a challenge after the state was separated. During the Corona pandemic, the central government suddenly imposed a lockdown and thousands of people from Giridih, Jamua, Gandey and other areas got stuck in different states of the country. The BJP government sitting in the Centre left everyone on the roads. But our coalition government was successful in bringing them all safely,” he said.

He further said that no one can do anything to a government which has the blessings of the poor. “The coalition government is strengthening the hands of the poor in the state. The BJP does not want the poor to be strong, so they have also worked to hold the elections before time,” he said.

Hemant Soren said that we have waived the outstanding electricity bills to strengthen the people of Jharkhand, the agricultural loans of the farmers have been waived, and the mothers and sisters have been given honorarium as a mark of respect. “We promise to deliver rupees one lakh to every family in the coming five years,” he added.

BJP leaders did not go to Manipur: Kalpana

Meanwhile, Kalpana Soren, addressing election rallies in Pakur and Dumri, said that the double-engine government worked to bring Jharkhand behind with double the strength.

“Big leaders of the BJP are roaming in the state, and this is a symbol of their restlessness of being away from power. There is hardly any big leader left who has not come to Jharkhand. Some are camping here. BJP people are roaming in Jharkhand but did not go to see the atrocities being committed on tribal women in Manipur,” she said.

Kalpana Soren said that when the BJP was in power, thousands of schools were closed. “Children were deprived of education, 11 lakh ration cards were cancelled and people were deprived of the right to food. The central government did an injustice to the people of Jharkhand by sending the development money to BJP-ruled states. But the Mahagathbandhan government gave the people their rights, started excellent schools and provided education to children through English medium. We are providing financial assistance to strengthen half of the population. This amount is now going to increase from one thousand to Rs 2500,” she said.

Kalpana Soren said that the BJP people had filed a PIL in the court regarding the respect we are giving to mothers and sisters, which was rejected by the court. This has slapped them hard, she added.

She said that we wanted to give reservations to the backward classes, implement the 1932-based local policy and tribal Sarna religion code. We passed it and sent it to the central government, but the latter suppressed it, she alleged.
