New Delhi, June 12: The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will begin on June 24, in which the newly elected members of Parliament will be sworn in. The newly elected members will take oath in the first three days of the session. Also, the Speaker of the House will be elected. The session will conclude on July 3.

This information was given by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday.

In addition, the minister announced that the 264th Rajya Sabha Session will begin on June 27 and end on July 3.

“First Session of 18th Lok Sabha is being summoned from 24.6.24 to 3.7.24 for oath/affirmation of newly elected Members, Election of Speaker, President’s Address and discussion thereon. 264th Session of Rajya Sabha will commence on 27.6.24 and conclude on 3.7.24,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju posted on X.

President Murmu to address joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on June 27

President Draupadi Murmu will address a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on June 27. She will present the outline of the functioning of the new government for the next five years.

Rijiju said in a post on the social media platform X, the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha is being called from June 24, 2024, to July 3, 2024, for the oath taking of the newly elected members, election of the Speaker, the President’s address and discussion on it.

PM Modi likely to introduce Council of Ministers in Parliament on June 27

It is likely that Prime Minister Modi will introduce the members of his Council of Ministers in Parliament after the President’s address on June 27.

During the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s address, an aggressive opposition may try to corner the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government on various issues.

The Prime Minister will respond to the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in both the Houses of Parliament.
