Ranchi, April 26: Friday’s second phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections in 88 Lok Sabha seats in 12 states and one union territory recorded a maximum of 77.18 per cent voting in Manipur.

52 per cent of votes were cast in UP. The percentages are 70.66% in Assam, 53.03% in Bihar, 72.13% in Chhattisgarh, 67.22% in Jammu and Kashmir, 63.90% in Karnataka, 63.97% in Kerala, 54.42% in Madhya Pradesh, 53.51% in Maharashtra, and 59.19% in Rajasthan. 76.23% of voting took place in Tripura and 71.84% in West Bengal.

Some high-profile names in the fray in this phase include Congress party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, who want to retain Kerala’s Wayanad and Thiruvananthapuram, respectively.

From the BJP, Hema Malini will hope for a hattrick from Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura.

In the first leg, voting for which was conducted last Friday, 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories went to polls.

Manipur votes peacefully

Election Commission data stated that 77.18 percent voter turnout was recorded by the end of polling in the remaining areas of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency on Friday.

J&K records voter turnout of 67.22%

According to the Election Commission, the Jammu constituency witnessed over 67 per cent voter turnout within the first four hours of polling during the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Friday.

While Bihar experienced an increase in polling percentage compared to the first phase, it remained slightly above Uttar Pradesh at 53.03%. Notable figures include Kishanganj with a voter turnout of 56.12%, Katihar with 55.54%, Purnea with 55.14%, Bhagalpur with 47.26%, and Banka with 49.50%, all recorded until 5 pm.
