Jharkhand: Turban tying competition to celebrate Sikh identity on Feb 25 in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 19: The Sakchi Gurudwara premises is set to host a vibrant Dastaar Bandi (Turban Tying) contest on 25 February, organised under the joint collaboration of Sunny Bhangra Group and Royal Decor, with the support of Sakchi Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee. This event aims to promote the significance of Dastaar and celebrate the rich Punjabi heritage among the youth.

On Sunday, 25 February, the Langar Hall of Sakchi Gurudwara will come alive with the colourful display of Sikh identity and artistic expression. The competition, open to both youth and children, encourages participants to showcase their creativity in tying the traditional Sikh headgear, Dastaar.

In a joint statement, Paramjeet Singh Sunny of Sunny Bhangra Group and Jasbir Singh Gill of Royal Decor expressed their enthusiasm for promoting Sikh culture through this event. A strategy meeting held at Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib on Monday brought together all the organizing members to ensure the success of the Dastaar competition.

Sakchi Gurudwara General Secretary, Paramjit Singh Kale, extended an invitation to all Sikh individuals to participate in the competition. Paramjeet Singh Sunny encouraged the families of Jamshedpur to either send their children or bring them to Sakchi Gurudwara Sahib for this cultural event.

A distinguished panel of judges, including Manjit Singh, Manpreet Singh, Amritpal Singh, Satwinder Singh, Gurdial Singh, and Gagandeep Singh (Dumala), will evaluate the participants’ artistic displays. Winners of the competition will be rewarded for their creative prowess.

The meeting, attended by key figures such as Paramjit Singh Kale, Jasbir Singh Gandhi, Manohar Singh Mite, Paramjit Singh Sunny, Jasbir Singh Gill, Harmeet Singh, concluded with gratitude expressed by Paramjit Singh Sunny to all involved parties for their commitment to preserving and celebrating Sikh identity and heritage.

This Dastaar Decoration competition serves as a cultural showcase, fostering a sense of pride and appreciation for Sikh traditions among the youth and community members.
