“He used to put up the curtains in the front of the shops to stop people from purchasing, but now he has snapped their water and electric supply line so that we leave the land,” they alleged.

 MLA’s brother denies the charge

The MLA still needs to receive the telephone call. His elder brother Shatrughan Mahto, a Ramraj Mandir Trust member, refuted the pressurising allegation and said that if the complainants are real land owners, they should show the paper of land and electrical bill receipt.

Shatrughan Mahto alleged that Congress leader Ashok Lal ( son of former Cong minister late OP Lal) conspired against MLA Dhulu Mahto to settle his political score. He urged the administration to probe the allegation.

However, Congress leader Ashok Lal, who was leading victim families to DC, SSP and SDM, alleged that the local MLA is trying to coerce the families in different ways to grab their land near the temple. But the people of Chitahi Dham are united and continue agitation. He clarified that the coal company provides electricity to villagers through CSR.

Last year, a woman, Kundi Devi of Chitahi Dham, lodged a similar complaint against Dhulu Mahto. She sat on a hunger strike for several days before the administration protected her.
