New Delhi, Feb 24: The Opposition INDIA bloc received a significant uplift as the AAP and Congress declared agreements on seat-sharing in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Chandigarh, and Goa for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, anticipated to take place in April-May this year.
During a press briefing, Congress general secretary Mukul Wasnik announced that the AAP would field candidates in four constituencies in Delhi—New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and East Delhi—while the Congress party would contest in the remaining three constituencies of Chandni Chowk, North East, and North West Delhi.
In Gujarat, the AAP will run in the constituencies of Bhavnagar and Bharuch, while the Congress will contest from 24 seats within the state.

In Chandigarh and the two Lok Sabha seats in Goa, the Congress will pursue its electoral campaign independently.
According to Wasnik, in Haryana, the Congress will contest in nine Lok Sabha constituencies, with one seat allocated to the AAP from Kurukshetra.
Wasnik mentioned that although both the AAP and Congress will run with their individual party symbols, they will jointly participate in the Lok Sabha elections.
“Opposition leaders are being arrested. Farmers are facing atrocities. Opposition parties have sidelined their differences and come together. We will upset BJP’s strategy. Parties are not only contesting polls individually, we are fighting jointly under the INDIA bloc,” Wasnik stated.
No agreement regarding the distribution of seats was declared for Punjab. Earlier, the ruling AAP had indicated its intention to compete in all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.
