Dhanbad, Feb 24: One youth identified as Sonu Kumar Yadav was injured in firing between two groups over supremacy on coal loading in Gopalichuk colliery of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) under Putki police station around 10 km away from district headquarters on Saturday afternoon.

The police official said that the incident occurred between 12.30 pm to 1 pm. The injured youth who received a bullet injury in his hand was admitted to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital and doctors said he was out of danger.

No FIR was lodged by either side till late evening in this connection.

Trainee deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Archna Smriti Khalko, who reached the spot immediately, said that the situation was under control and loading of coal was resumed shortly.

The police recovered three crude bombs on the spot and got them defused. Before police reached the spot, members of both groups had escaped from the spot. No person was arrested.

Eyewitnesses said firing and bombing were used by both groups in a clash for supremacy on loading work. They also smashed the windows of several coal trucks parked on the spot for loading.

The eyewitnesses said both the groups belonged to two trade unions run by two families.
