Dhanbad, Feb 29: Dhanbad has been decked up for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled tomorrow.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate his ambitious fertilizer plant Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) Sindri in the morning and address a public rally at the Barbadda air strip of the district in the afternoon.

Officials here said that the Prime Minister will arrive by a chopper directly at  HURL Sindri at around 10.55 am and after inaugurating the fertilizer plant reach the Dhanbad air strip to hold a public rally.

This is the 3rd visit of Narendra Modi in Dhanbad as Prime Minister. Earlier on May 25, 2018, he laid the foundation stone of the HURL unit Sindri, Barauni and Gorakhpur plants. HURL managing director SP Mohanti informed media persons that the plant has come up at a total cost of Rs 8.939.25 crores and has a capacity of 10 lakh metric tons neem coated urea production per year. “We have set a target of annual production of 12 lakh metric tons from next year”, he said.

As per the plan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi HURL Sindri plant had to be completed in three years by 2021 but due to Covid it was not able to start production. Though production in HURL Sindri has already started.  This year Prime Minister was scheduled to inaugurate in January and second time in February but both the times programmes were cancelled.

The plant has a capacity of per day 4,100 metric tons urea production.
