Jharkhand News: BIT Sindri, IIT ISM join hands for academic growth in mining field

Dhanbad, March 4: Mining Engineering departments of two major national fame technical institutions of Dhanbad, BIT Sindri and IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM), have joined hands for mutual academic growth in mining engineering.

In the wake of this proposed collaboration between two premium institutions, IIT ISM mining engineering head of the department, Prof DP Mishra, visited BIT Sindri and underlined the fields for research with his BIT Sindri counterpart, Dr PK Singh, head of the mining engineering department.

An official of BIT Sindri said that the visit of Dr Mishra marks a significant chapter in the collaborative efforts between two major technical institutions, BIT Sindri and IIT ISM.

Shared vision for excellence

“This visit is a testament to the strong academic bonds and a shared vision for excellence that unite both institutions,” said Dr PK Singh while welcoming Dr Mishra.

Prof (Dr) Mishra took a comprehensive review of the department’s facilities, including an extensive tour of the laboratories of BIT Sindri. He discussed exploring future collaborative ventures such as workshops, seminars, and research projects, underscoring the potential for mutual growth and enrichment in mining engineering.

BIT Sindri laboratories

While highly appreciating the facilities of BIT Sindri laboratories, Dr Mishra said that he visited two labs, Rock Mechanics and Mining Environment of BIT Sindri, and both were good. Though they have limited facilities, authorities are trying to equip them with proper facilities for research, he added.

“Both the institutions ( BIT Sindri and IIT ISM) are nearby, and we could jointly do research and organise seminars, workshops and conferences in desired fields,” said Dr DP Mishra.

“We extend our profound gratitude to Prof D P Mishra for his valuable visit and insights, which have further solidified the foundation for future collaborative initiatives between BIT Sindri and IIT ISM. We look forward to the fruitful outcomes these joint efforts will yield,” said Dr PK Singh.

Prof Mishra is also the co-principal investigator of the IIT ISM TeXMin project.
