Dhanbad, March 11: IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad emerged as the overall champion, leaving IIT Kharagpur in second place in the three–day inter–college sports meet ‘Parakram 24’, which concluded here on Sunday evening.
IIT ISM earns highest 88 points
The host, IIT ISM, earned the highest 88 points, followed by IIT Kharagpur at 54 points. The host emerged as champion in table tennis and Karate.
Prof MK Singh, Dean (Academic) of IIT ISM, and Anup D’Costa, renowned volleyball players, were guests at the closing function and gave away prizes to the winners and runners-up.

Giving this information, Prof ACS Rao, associate professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering who is also the president of the Sports and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) of IIT ISM, said that a team of 12 technical institutions, including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Jodhpur, NIT Agartala, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Rourkela, NIT Roorkee, ISER Kolkata, Amity Jharkhand, Arka Jain University, BIT Sindri, St Xavier’s Ranchi. IIEST Shibpur Howrah and others took part.

Results:
Table Tennis: The IIT ISM boys team emerged as the winner, defeating IIT Jodhpur. In the girls’ event, NIT Jamshedpur emerged as the winner, defeating IIT ISM in the final.
Karate- IIT (ISM) bagged the top spot while IIT Kharagpur was declared runners-up. In the Karate individual girl’s event, Veer Gatha of IIT Kharagpur clinched the top spot while Prerna Lala of IIT (ISM) was declared runners-up.
Powerlifting 56 kg category: Sandip of BIT Sindri emerged winner in the 56 kg class by lifting 300 KG, while AVV Surya Prasad of IIEST Shibpur bagged the runners-up trophy by lifting 272 KG.

Powerlifting 62-kg class: Deepak Kumar Chandravanshi of St Xavier College Ranchi emerged as the winner by lifting 395.5 KG, while Debraj of NIT Agartala bagged the second position by lifting 378 KG.
Powerlifting 68-kg category: Aman Gautam of NIT Agartala won by lifting 406 kg, while Nilesh Kumar of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad was the runner-up by lifting 395 kg.
Powerlifting 74 kg class: Dennis Neer Lakra of St Xavier emerged as the winner by lifting 539 kg, while Kundan Yadav of NIT Rourkela bagged the second position by lifting 430 kg.

Powerlifting 74+ kg class: Arman Ansari of BIT Sindri emerged as the winner by lifting 537 KG, while Kushal Rana of IIEST Shibpur bagged the runner-up position.
