Jamshedpur, March 13: Two criminals were nabbed with as many pistols by railway police at Tatanagar station under GRP Tatanagar Thana in the wee hours on Wednesday.

Those arrested have been identified as Abhijit Mandal alias Kandi and Gaurab Kumar Ram, both residents of Bhuiyandhih in Sitaramdera.

Both Abhijit and Gaurab were wanted in the Taklu Lohar murder case and were caught minutes before boarding a Howrah-bound train from Tatanagar.

Revealing about the breakthrough, Railway DSP, Jayshree Kujur said that during patrolling the railway station GRP personnel spotted two youths moving around in a suspicious way near the Tatanagar station entrance past midnight.

“On being asked, the duo said they are waiting for a Howrah-bound train. But given their suspicious movement, the railway cops carried out frisking and found the pistols in their possession. The cops recovered four live cartridges also from the possession of the duo. Later during interrogation, the two divulged that they were wanted in connection with the murder of Taklu Lohar committed at Bhuiyandhih in Sitaramdera on February 1,” said Kujur while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

According to the senior railway police officer, both Abhijit and Gaurab had gone over to Mumbai soon after the murder of Taklu Lohar and had returned to Jamshedpur on March 11 only.

According to the railway police, as the Sitaramdera police were searching for the two frantically in connection with the murder case, the duo were trying to go over to Howrah.

The railway police forwarded the arrested persons to judicial custody in the afternoon today, leading the Sitaramdera police to take them in police remand in connection with the Taklu Lohar murder case.
