New Delhi, March 16: The Lok Sabha elections for 543 seats are scheduled to take place in seven phases starting from April 19, with the results set to be declared on June 4, as announced by the Election Commission on Saturday.

Polling for the first phase will take place on April 19, followed by the second phase on April 26, the third phase on May 7, the fourth phase on May 13, the fifth phase on May 20, the sixth phase on May 25, and the final seventh phase on June 1.

Assembly elections are scheduled to occur in Andhra Pradesh on May 13, in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim on April 19, and in Odisha across two phases on May 13 and May 20.

Single-phase voting will occur in 22 states, including Delhi. Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir will undergo elections in five phases, while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal will vote in seven phases.

Jharkhand will vote in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.

96.8 crore eligible voters

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar stated that there would be 96.8 crore eligible voters in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the dates of the Lok Sabha and assembly elections in four states, Rajiv Kumar stated that India will be conducting its elections with 10.5 lakh voting stations, 1.5 crore poll workers, and security personnel.

Approximately 49.7 crore male and 47.1 crore female voters.

There are 1.8 crore first-time voters and 19.47 crore voters between the ages of 20 and 29 he said also noting that there are 88.4 lakh voters in the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category, 2.18 lakhs who are centenarians, and 48,000 who are transgenders.
