Jamshedpur, March 23: In a bid to address the pressing issue of water conservation, CII Young Indians has initiated the Jal Yodha programme, aiming to instil awareness among school children about the importance of saving water.

The year-long campaign involves organizing educational sessions in various schools, where children are being groomed as water warriors.

Jamshedpur High School students engage in water conservation initiative

During a recent session at Jamshedpur High School, students were briefed about the water conservation campaign and encouraged to inspire their families to participate in saving water.

The programme, led by members of Young Indians, highlighted the significance of water conservation in light of unpredictable weather patterns and drought situations caused by insufficient rainfall.

As part of the initiative, children are actively involved in learning about the water cycle, understanding their water footprint, and implementing practical measures to minimize water usage both at home and in their communities. They are encouraged to utilize rainwater for domestic purposes and improve wastewater management systems.

Water Warrior Report Card

A notable aspect of the program is the introduction of the “Water Warrior Report Card,” wherein students are tasked with assessing water-related issues over a 10-day period and compiling a report for Young Indians.

Based on their findings, efforts will be directed towards motivating individuals to conserve water effectively. Students scoring above 70 marks will be recognized as water warriors, while those below 50 will be encouraged to improve their conservation practices.

Through initiatives like the Jal Yodha programme, Young Indians aim to empower the younger generation to become proactive agents of change in addressing environmental challenges, particularly concerning water conservation.
