Jharkhand News: Jamshedpur boys and girls dominate Chess Festival, leave Ranchi far behind

Dhanbad, April 5: Players of Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum), while dominating in junior chess of Jharkhand, swept almost all medals, leaving Ranchi players far behind in the championship, which concluded at Hazaribagh Naman Vidyalaya recently.

In the championship, ten events for different age groups, including under-7 open, under-9, under-11, under-13, and under-15 boys and girls, were held.  A total of 30 medals (1st, 2nd, 3rd) were at stake, which Jamshedpur boys and girls swept 22.

As per the official report of the championship Jamshedpur, boys and girls became champions in 8 events out of 10.

Two players of Jamshedpur, Adhiraj Mitra and Dishita Dey, bagged double titles in the tournament. Mitra won under-13 and under -15, while Dishita Dey won under -11 and under-13 and became runners-up in under-15.

Aadvik Bhushan prevents East Singhbhum’s clean sweep

Aadvik Bhushan of Hazaribagh stopped East Singhbhum players from a clean sweep by winning the boys under-7 event, while Ranchi’s Avani Kumari annexed girls under-15. Hazaribagh’s Adarsh Raj became runners-up in under-7 while Saraikela’s Ispita Sarkar emerged as runners-up in girls under-7. Bokaro’ Adhiraj Mitra got 2nd position in boys under-15.

Besides champion in girls under-15, Ranchi players Praarabdh Singh, Rishi Raj, Prapti Munda, Ujan Mandal, and Abhiraj Dey bagged 3rd position in their respective events.

East Singhbhum’s T Nihharika, Abhigyan Singh, Anishka, RudraNil Roy, Dishita Dey, and Adhiraj Mitra, all national players playing as per their reputation, became champions.

The tournament officials

All Jharkhand Chess Association vice-president Vijay Kumar Singh was the tournament director. Vishal Kumar Minz of East Singhbhum was the chief guest, while Binod Kumar Saw (joint secretary) and Vikram  Kumar of  Saraikela were arbiters.

East Singhbhum Chess Association secretary NK Singh and international arbiter Jayant  Bhuyan congratulated the players for their outstanding performance.

Boys under-7- Aadvik Bhushan, Adarsh Raj, Praarabdh Singh

Girls under-7– T Nihharika, Ipspita Sarkar, T Neha

Boys under-9- Abhigyan Singh, Rudra Nil Roy, Rishi Raj

Girls under-9 Aniska, Naira Aditya, Prapti Munda.

Boys under-11-  Rudranil Roy, Abhigyan Singh, Ujan Mandal

Girls under-11-  Dishita Dey, Eshani Choudhari, Bidushi Munshi

Boys under-13- Adhiraj Mitra, Arjit Ghosh, Nikunj Agrawal

Under 13 second , Arijit Ghosh

Girls under-13 Dishita Dey, Prgya Bhardwaj, Navieka Jayswal

Boys under-15- Adhiraj Mitra, Abeer Dhingra, Sourya Dipta Sarkar, Abhiraj Dey,

Girls under-15 – Avani Kumari, Dishita Dey, Navieka Jaswal, Advika Mohanti.
