New Delhi, May 3: Rahul Gandhi was announced by the Congress on Friday as their nominee for the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, which has long been a stronghold for the party.
Rahul Gandhi is up against Dinesh Pratap Singh of the BJP for the Rae Bareli seat.
Additionally, the Congress party has chosen Kishori Lal Sharma to contest from Amethi. He will be running against BJP’s Smriti Irani.
Smriti Irani is vying for a new term from Amethi, and Rahul is presently the Lok Sabha representative for Wayanad. Sonia Gandhi, a current Rajya Sabha member previously held Raebareli.

Sonia Gandhi, who previously held the Raebareli seat, has become a member of the Rajya Sabha.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi lost the Amethi seat to Smriti Irani.
Amethi and Rae Bareli are scheduled for voting in the fifth phase on May 20th.
