PM Modi files nomination papers from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat

Varanasi, May 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday filed his nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, a constituency where he has secured impressive victories for two consecutive terms in 2014 and 2019.

In the Lok Sabha 2024 election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running from Varanasi for a third term.

Voting for the Varanasi seat is scheduled for the final phase of the general elections on June 1st.

Who attended PM Modi’s nomination filing?

Along with the chief ministers of over 10 states ruled by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended PM Modi’s nomination filing in a significant show of strength.

The Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, LJP chief Chirag Paswan, Apna Dal (S) president Anupriya Patel, and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party president Omprakash Rajbhar, who are allies of the BJP-led NDA, were also in attendance during PM Modi’s nomination filing.

Apart from UP CM Yogi Adityanath, several chief ministers including Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), Mohan Yadav (Madhya Pradesh), Vishnu Deo Sai (Chhattisgarh), Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra), Bhajan Lal Sharma (Rajasthan), Himanta Biswa Sharma (Assam), Nayab Singh Saini (Haryana), Pramod Sawant (Goa), Prem Singh Tamang (Sikkim), and Manik Saha (Tripura) were present during the nomination filing of PM Modi.

PM Modi offered prayers before nomination filing

Before submitting his nomination papers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed prayers at Dasaswamedh Ghat.

He also sought blessings at the Kaal Bhairav temple by offering prayers there.

One day before the event, he organized a large-scale roadshow in his parliamentary constituency alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Surrounded by a sea of saffron-clad supporters, Modi’s procession stretched for six kilometres before arriving at the Kashi Vishwanath temple, where he prayed.
